WAXING
Studio Blu Products
Are Naturally Based
Waxing helps to make skin supple and soft. When applied to the skin, the wax adds moisture and continues to boost the moisture levels of the skin after the treatment is complete. It can also help open pores and remove dead skin cells. The waxing process may help make the skin look fresher and feel smoother.

WAXING

Waxing is a popular method of removing unwanted hair. By removing hair at the root, new hair doesn't grow back for up to 8 weeks. While waxing isn't one of our most relaxing spa treatments, it certainly helps many of our clients look great and feel more confident. Waxing will not affect your hair growth to come back quicker - rather with continued treatments your unwanted hair may thin out over time creating a softer less dense regrowth of the hair.

Different kinds of wax used on the skin

Soft, warm wax is cream or resin-based, and is used for strip waxing. It is gently warmed then applied in a thin layer over the skin. A cloth strip is pressed on the area and removed, taking the hairs with it. The spreadable wax is often used to cover larger areas like the legs and arms. While extremely efficient at picking up even the finest of hairs, soft wax sticks to the skin as well.

Cream-based warm waxes are more gentle on the skin. Good for sensitive skin, look for a cream-based wax with titanium dioxide, which acts as a buffer between the wax and the skin.

Hard wax is an effective option both for areas with thicker hair and fine, thin hair. The wax is applied warm and hardens as it cools. It's also known as strip-free wax because, in its hardened form, it acts as the strip itself. A small amount of pre-epilation oil typically goes on the skin after it’s cleansed to protect it from the wax. The wax grabs onto the hairs in a shrink-wrapping manner as it hardens rather than sticking to the skin like soft wax. This makes it more suitable for smaller, more sensitive areas like the lip, nose, underarms, and bikini area.

How to Prep for Your Wax Session
These pre-wax hacks will help you get ready for your service and ensure you get the best wax possible—leaving behind smooth, beautiful skin.
Stop Shaving + Tweezing 10-14 Days Before Your Wax
This allows your hair to grow out—because hair that's about the length of a grain of rice allows our Comfort Wax® to get a better grip.

Gently Exfoliate Before Your Reservation
This removes dead skin and allows for a closer wax. It also dramatically lessens your chances of developing ingrown hairs post-wax.

Plan for Extra Sensitivity
Like a lot of other things, skin can be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle—so consider booking your reservation in between your cycles.

Get the Jump on Discomfort
If you're concerned about discomfort that may come from waxing—especially if it's your first time—consider taking an ibuprofen an hour prior to your wax.

Baggy is Best
Just-waxed skin is always a bit more sensitive. Wearing loose, thin clothing won't irritate your skin as much as restrictive, thick fabrics like spandex, lycra or denim.

Opt for Natural Fibers
Let your skin breathe! Natural fibers like cotton and silk promote airflow and won't stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics.
